How-we-use-the-tools notes. Not principles — just the shortest path to do a job. Start with ⌘K if you only learn one thing.
⌘K
The command palette. Works on every page of my.skcript.com.
- Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux).
- Type what you want.
- Enter on the top match (or arrow to pick).
What it can do
- Search pages — Home, Leave, Inventory, Redbook, brand kit, …
- Find people — name, role, department → open profile
- Copy contact fields — e.g.
Karthik phone,Swaathi email(tap the value to copy) - Log an office expense — e.g.
bought pens for 180 yesterday→ Log ₹… (see Office expenses) - Jump actions — “request leave”, “who is out”, “add go link”, “submit feedback”
- Ask AI — bottom row when you still need a free-form answer
If the palette misreads you, arrow down and pick the right row. Esc closes it.
Time off
Request PTO and track balances on Time off.
Natural language
- Open Time off (or ⌘K → “leave”).
- Type a phrase, for example:
sick todayWFH tomorrowout Mon–Wed for a weddinghalf day Fridaynext week off
- Check the Understood preview (dates, type, half-day).
- Hit Request.
You can always open Enter dates manually if the parse is wrong.
After you request
- Status starts pending until someone with leave access approves or declines.
- Approved leave shows up in who’s-out views and the home Today band.
- Your balance counts working days this year (half days = 0.5).
Ask early. Do not disappear without a request or a #afk note.
Presence & tomorrow’s plan
Two channels, one goal: the team knows where you are.
#afk (Slack)
Out, late, sick day, or plan change → post in #afk. That is still the team-visible signal. The portal mirrors a lot of it onto Home.
Office check-in DM
On weekdays you get a bot DM: WFO / WFH / Late for the next workday (or Monday if it’s Friday). Tap a button. Change your mind later — re-tap on the same DM.
Home · Today
Open Home for “what’s true today”: who’s in/out, celebrations, and (if you approve things) what needs you. Prefer this over hunting Slack threads for the same facts.
Go-links
Short team URLs: go/something → a real destination.
Use one
Visit Go links for the list, or open /go/<slug> on the portal. Prefer a go-link when the URL will be reused.
Create one
- Open Go links.
- Type plain English if you want, e.g.
payroll → razorpay.com/…, or fill slug + URL. - Save. Anyone can create; deleting is admin-gated.
Good slugs are short and boring: payroll, vpn, brand. Don’t invent a second link for the same URL — reuse the existing slug.
Your profile
Your card on Team is how people reach you.
Fill the gaps
- Open your profile (Team → you, or the home Complete profile nudge).
- Add photo, phone, communication channels (order = priority), and optional details (address, blood group, how you work best).
- Save.
Home will keep nudging empty fields. Photo shows on the directory for everyone.
Request gear
Company devices live in Inventory.
Request something new
- Open Inventory.
- Fill Request — what you need + why.
- Submit. Ops fulfill or decline; don’t buy a shadow laptop on the side.
Claim / hold
If a device is in stock and Claim is available, use it so assignment stays accurate. Managers expand a row for tags, history, and reassignment.
ICs: the request form is enough. Inventory command bar (assign/add devices) is for people with inventory access.
Office expenses
Log stationery, snacks, and other small office spend (INR) without hunting a form.
From anywhere — ⌘K
- Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) on my.skcript.com.
- Type something plain, for example:
bought pens for 180 yesterdaysnacks 200I paid 599 for Nua sanitary pad
- Choose Log ₹… · … and press Enter.
It picks up item, amount, and relative dates (today, yesterday, 2 days ago, Monday, 22 Jul, and similar). The spend is saved as you paid.
Dates it understands
- today / yesterday / tomorrow — calendar day
- last night / day before yesterday — −1 / −2
- 2 days ago — −N
- Monday / last Friday — most recent that weekday
- 22 Jul / 20/07 — calendar date
Ops console
People with the expenses admin area still use Office expenses for the full list, month totals, edits, and history. They can also log for someone else (e.g. Divya paid 300 for pens).
Everyone else: ⌘K is enough. Keep it real receipts — not poetry.
